He is so perceptive and so loving and so sensitive and so smart.
We are reading Harry Potter, and my compulsion to finish books late at night seems to be heritable.
He gets so, so mad and grumpy at me when we finish a cliffhanger chapter.
And I am such a pushover...just one more page...a couple more pages...
Then Dan is the voice of reason. He will, indeed, be a pain to get out of bed in the morning.
And then we repeat it all the next night.
Road trips have become mom-reads-aloud-until-she's-carsick-or-hoarse trips, plus minecraft on the "kids play phone" until it runs out of batteries. Five minute warning. One minute warning. Wrap it up and give it to your brother. Now, or I take it.
He wants to play piano, and lacrosse, and learn fencing, and snowboarding, and sailing, and build robots.
There's not enough time in a lifetime to do the things all the things he wants to do, all the things I want to watch him learn.
We're going to build a treehouse. Somehow, sometime. Might have to build the tree first.
